Product Description
The all new Sony Xplod XS-L106P5B "10" 1,200 watt car subwoofer will make your system bump loud and clear. It has a unique look and shape to match its unique clear sound. This subwoofer performs better than most other subs of the same power. This sub makes sure that you get a minimum amount of distortion, while pumping out louder and clearer bass.
The 5-sided design looks really cool, however Sony did not just have looks in mind when they designed this incredible sub. The design increases the cone response and accuracy, which produces more efficient power output, and better sound quality. I bought this sub a couple weeks ago and it is great. I'll go ahead and say I haven't received my amp yet, so I'm not using anywhere near all of its potential, but I have it hooked up to a house stereo and even running just 150 Watts max into it sounds Great! I've hooked it in and played Xbox and the bass is AMAZING. I have it in a sealed box, and since I don't have the amp yet, I can't put it in my trunk (if I do, the rear speakers of my car drain it out because they hit pretty low bass and I don't have any boost for the sub), but I put it in the rear seat and it sounds great. Plus, by having it in the back with not much boost like this, It gives me plenty of bass, but doesn't carry far enough to annoy everyone in their houses as I drive by. I've spent a long time searching for the right sub and amp system for my car, because the car is old, so I didn't want to spend too much money, but I wanted to get a nice system. I do not regret buying this sub AT ALL.
The only bad thing I can say about this sub so far is that because it is a slight Pentagon shape, it has a 10 screw pattern, which doesn't line up with the standard 8 screws. As for this, you could probably just screw the new holes and cover the old ones if you're replacing a 8 screw sub, or just buy a new box, they're not terribly priced. I have a Scosche and it was only 30, works fine, no rattle or vibration. It's a pretty small box, only like .75 cubic feet, but it get's the job done. (I wanted a smaller, sealed box for my particular car so it wouldn't rattle my trunk too much. When I get a better car, I'm replacing this box with a ported box.)

I have a small amp (4x75W) with 4- JL Audio speakers in the doors. It sounded crisp and clean but lacked 'OOMPH'. I mounted the sub to the back seat frame and I have (2x75W rear) going to the sub and (2x75W front) going to the 4 door speakers. I am really impressed with the bass. It is not earthquake bass, but perfectly balanced and plenty loud. I am sure it would be even better with a proper box (I sealed the trunk) and more power.
